Need for a Healthy Environment

We depend on the environment for thousands of things. From the clothes we wear to the cars we drive, everything essential to our way of life comes from the environment. As we take the necessary steps to perserve our environment, we end up benefiting and preserving our ultimate resource!

Do we really want our kids growing up in an environment filled with smog? If we don't take action steps now to slow our generations negative impact on the environment, how will the next generation survive. If we don't show them how to take proper care of the environment, who will? We are their teacher! We have been told for over 4,000 years by our ancestors to take care of the world we live in. That brings an interesting question...why are we here on this earth? Are we here to carelessly and selfishly use up the earths resources? Or, are we here to take care of "mother earth" as our ancestors before us? I think there's an obvious answer to the question. How is life supposed to be sustained if we trash the earth? The generations after us will have nothing to live on...live in...or live around other than depleted resources, smogged over cities and filled up trash dumps! Does that sound enjoyable...peaceful...pleasant? Put yourself in the shoes of those not yet born...say...three generation from now! What would you want those before you to do? Sure, life might be easier, more enjoyable, and have less hassles in todays day and age if we don't take heed the warning signs our environment is showing, but the generations after us will be greatly distressed over the rapid decline in the environmental quality. And think of this, the next generation, if they would decide to reverse our generation's negative effects, they would have that as well as minimizing the effects of their generation! They'd be doing double duty due to our lack of it!
